NFT description
Salvador Dali, the famous Spanish surrealist artist, visited Israel in 1968 as a guest of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. During his visit, Dali attended the opening of an exhibition of his works at the museum, which included some of his most famous pieces, such as 'The Persistence of Memory' and 'The Hallucinogenic Toreador.' Dali's visit to Israel was not without controversy. Some Israeli artists and intellectuals criticized the decision to invite him, citing his previous support for fascist regimes and his eccentric behavior. Nevertheless, Dali was warmly received by many Israelis and his visit generated significant media attention. During his time in Israel, Dali also visited several historic sites, including the Western Wall in Jerusalem and the ancient city of Masada. He even created a painting inspired by his visit to Masada, titled 'Masada Myth.' Dali's visit to Israel remains a notable event in the country's cultural history, and his works continue to be exhibited in museums and galleries throughout Israel and around the world.
