NFT description
Salvador Dali, the famous Spanish surrealist artist, visited Japan in 1970, where he was exposed to various traditional Japanese art forms. Dali was particularly fascinated by Kabuki theater, a classical Japanese dance-drama, and Japanese gardens, which are known for their unique aesthetics and design principles. During his visit, Dali also met with various Japanese artists and intellectuals, including the filmmaker Akira Kurosawa and the philosopher Tetsuro Watsuji. His experiences in Japan had a significant impact on his artistic style and approach, inspiring him to incorporate elements of Japanese culture into his work. In fact, some of Dali's later works, such as his 'Japan' series of paintings, were directly influenced by his visit to Japan. These works often feature elements of Japanese culture, including Kabuki characters and traditional Japanese motifs, rendered in Dali's distinctive surrealist style.
