NFT description

The Pharos Lighthouse, also known as the Lighthouse of Alexandria, was a towering lighthouse located on the island of Pharos in the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and was built in the 3rd century BC during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus. The lighthouse stood approximately 130-140 meters tall, and was built using large blocks of limestone. It was designed by the Greek architect Sostratus of Cnidus, and was completed around 280 BC. The lighthouse was equipped with a fire that was lit at night, providing a guiding light for ships entering the harbor. The Pharos Lighthouse was considered one of the greatest engineering achievements of the ancient world, and was a symbol of the power and wealth of Alexandria. It stood for over 1,500 years, until it was severely damaged by a series of earthquakes in the 14th century AD. Today, only a few remnants of the lighthouse remain, but it continues to inspire awe and admiration as one of the greatest architectural feats of all time.
